Okuma to Host CNC Machine Tool Technology Event, December 4-6

Okuma America Corporation and Partners in THINC will hold the 2012 Technology Showcase December 4 through 6 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event will feature 26 CNC machines, including the MCR-BIII double-column machining center, the new MU-10000H 5-axis horizontal machining center and other CNC machines that were shown at IMTS. A wide variety of equipment, including small and large horizontal lathes, 5-axis machines, multi-function machines and vertical and horizontal machining centers will be tooled up and running. The Okuma machines on display include:

    • GENOS L200M horizontal lathe –2-axis turning center with live tooling
    • LB2000 EX and LB3000 EX– horizontal lathes
    • LT2000 EX and LT3000 EX – 3-turret horizontal lathes with live tooling
    • LU300-2M and LU3000-M – 4-axis lathes with live tooling
    • Multus B200 – multi-function lathe featuring blisk cutting
    • Multus B750 horizontal lathe
    • VTM-80YB, VTM200YB & VTM-1200YB – vertical turning lathes
  • Machining Centers
    • GENOS M-460VE – vertical machining centers, one cutting titanium
    • MB-4000H – 3 horizontal machining centers connected to an AMPS flexible manufacturing system, one of which will cutting inconel
    • MA-600HII – featuring Turn-Cut functionality
    • MCR-BIII – double-column machining center
  • 5-Axis Machines
    • Millac 33TU – vertical lathe/5-axis machining center
    • MU-10000H – 5-axis horizontal machining center
  • Grinder
    • GC-34 Cam Grinder

    • MB-56-W & LAW-V24 with robot

In addition to the multitude of machines and cutting demonstrations, the new Okuma THINC®-OSP-P300 control will be available for hands-on trials. Featuring applications including the Collision Avoidance System, One-Touch IGF, 3D Virtual Monitor, Caron Engineering’s TMAC and dataZen’s Mira, these user-friendly, self-directed displays make it easy for user to “Try It.” All attendees that complete a Try It demonstration will be entered in a drawing to win an iPad.

Members of Partners in THINC will be on hand, representing tooling, gauging, software and other machine tool accessory equipment, challenging attendees with a session titled “Bring Your Problems, We’ll Supply Solutions”, where experts will collaborate to answer questions and work together to solve manufacturing challenges. Other educational seminars will address topics such as machining super alloy material and using technology to bridge the skills gap. On Thursday, Dec. 6, Steve Kline, Director of Market Intelligence for Gardner Business Media, will present on the state of manufacturing and take a look at the outlook and industry trends for 2013.

Lunch will be served each day, dinner will be served on Tuesday and Wednesday and there will be opportunities to win door prizes and see a Target Chip Ganassi Racing Indy Showcar.
