As the “Official Machine Tool Supplier” and partner of Don Schumacher Racing, Okuma is working with DSR to advance their engineering and manufacturing capabilities to new speeds.

“Okuma is focused on expanding our motorsports initiatives and with many of the elite teams and manufacturers in the industry we are always looking for the right teams to partner with. When we met with DSR we knew right away this was the type of organization we could partner with and mutually advance to the next level,” says Seth Machlus, Marketing Manager at Okuma. The feeling was reciprocated quickly. "With the rapid expansion of Don Schumacher Racing comes the need to design and manufacture more and more proprietary parts in house," said Don Schumacher. "To make that happen we needed to align ourselves with a world leading company in the CNC industry. We knew that Okuma already had a variety of successful programs in the motorsports industry, including Bill Miller Engineering, Competition Cams and with Richard Childress Racing. On top of those programs, Okuma partnered with the NHRA as the Official Machine Tool Company. We did our homework and we realized we didn’t need to look very far. It made sense for Don Schumacher Racing to partner with Okuma."

Don Schumacher Racing is one of the marquee programs in all of the NHRA, producing winning teams in all four main NHRA divisions of Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle.

To begin the program, DSR is manufacturing many parts for their teams on an Okuma Captain lathe and an MC-V vertical machining center. This program and machining technology look to grow exponentially as DSR’s manufacturing needs grow as well.
