CU-ICAR is a collaborative advanced-technology research campus offering Masters and PhD programs in Automotive Engineering. Leading-edge applied research is being conducted in critical areas such as advanced product development strategies, sustainable mobility, intelligent manufacturing systems and advanced materials. Industrial-scale laboratories and testing equipment in world-class facilities are available for commercial use.

Okuma America Corporation and its local distributor, Morris South, have invested in CU-ICAR with $1.5 million in machine tools, training, and support to support post-graduate level education and research including automotive, industrial automation, production launches and proposal development. Instead of donating specific equipment, Okuma provides state-of-the-art equipment in a consignment agreement that continuously upgrades equipment for new versions as improvements are made. This arrangement eliminates equipment obsolescence and enables the CU-ICAR team to effectively tailor their capabilities to meet industry needs by working with Okuma to identify and provide the best possible machine tools for newly initiated research and education projects.
