This belief, coupled with our commitment to technical education, has brought about our partnership with York Technical College. In October 2002, Okuma and York Technical College (Rock Hill, South Carolina) created the Institute for Manufacturing Productivity, located on the York Tech campus. Through the institute, students have an opportunity to train on the latest technology Okuma machines, while the college offers Okuma distributors and customers a world-class facility to receive hands-on training in high technology machining practices using Okuma machine tools. The institute has spent over $250,000 to develop this Okuma training and has educated more than 3,000 students from Fortune 500 companies to small job shops. Students have come from companies such as: Rolls-Royce, Boeing, General Motors, John Deere, Honda, Siemens and Harley-Davidson.
