In 2004 Okuma America and Infinity Rebuild Inc. teamed up to complete the first ever P100 control retrofit on an LC40-2S. Not one but four LC40's were resurrected from the grave and put back into production. These machines, built in the early 1980's with OSP3000 controls, represent true workhorse machines of their time. The LC series Okuma lathes are in operation all over the world with several thousand in the US alone.
Rebuilt from the ground up with the latest Okuma hardware and software, these LC40's are the first step towards making the THINC control available for retrofit on most any machine tool. Infinity Rebuild is the premier rebuilder of Okuma Machine tools. These LC40's were brought back into tolerance using some of the same techniques employed by Okuma. Okuma is looking for more opportunities to retrofit the THINC control.
