Okuma America Corporation, a world leader in CNC machine tool manufacturing, announces their collaboration with GE Digital (NYSE: GE) to provide solutions that connect and control manufacturing machines on the plant floor by embedding GE Digital’s Predix operating system for the Industrial Internet on Okuma machines.
GE Digital’s Predix platform enables Okuma to offer customers a global, cloud-based data collection service tailored and optimized for data from machine tools and the metal cutting process. Predix combines cutting-edge technology and GE’s decades of industry experience into a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) targeted to securely ingest machine-grade data at scale and analyzes it to deliver outcomes for customers. The Predix platform is purpose-built for developing, deploying, operating and monetizing Industrial Internet applications.
By embedding Predix on Okuma machines, asset Performance Management (APM) tools can be created for the machine so companies can move from alert-based interactions to prescriptive, analytic real-time solutions. In addition, Brilliant Manufacturing Solutions can be used for monitoring in the factory.
