Our vision is to foster a dynamic workplace of engaged employees striving to deliver an exceptional customer experience. We work toward accomplishing this vision by following our Employee Value Proposition (EVP):

At Okuma we are a family, a team, mindful of our colleagues inspiring greatness in each other every day. Creativity and open engagement among all employees is encouraged and expected, leading to limitless opportunities and dynamic experiences. Our forward-thinking culture and passion for our customers, products, and businesses fosters personal integrity and leading-edge innovation, creating a positive impact on the world.

So if you’re interested in working side-by-side with professionals who are committed to our vision and EVP, and who inspire, encourage, and mentor, then Okuma’s probably a perfect fit for you. As you consider your next career move, we hope you'll consider the many other advantages that we have to offer:

Competitive Benefits: At Okuma, our benefits package is generous; initially this is evident in the way we structure bonuses, as well as the fact that we still offer a pension plan, which is very rare in today’s economy. Additional benefits include health insurance (including dental and vision), 401(k), flexible spending accounts, health reimbursements (gym memberships, weight loss, smoking cessation, etc.), tuition reimbursements, generous time away from work (PTO and paid holidays), and more.

Learning and Development Opportunities: Our work culture is always focused on self-improvement, which is why we offer our employees a variety of learning and development opportunities through our Learning Management System (LMS). You can improve your management and leadership skills and work on professional and project effectiveness. In addition to these communications skills, employees can develop their knowledge base on additional subjects like legal compliance, technology, and safety.

Apprenticeship Program: Okuma’s Apprenticeship Program, which runs every even year, is designed to proactively train workers who eventually join the ranks as Okuma employees. This program provides a fast-track to a rewarding career path, plus it provides Okuma with a steady stream of well-qualified talent to help support the needs of our customers. Apprentices spend their first six months in a classroom-style learning environment at the Okuma Machine Tool Academy at the Rowan-Cabarrus Advanced Technology Center in Kannapolis, NC. After that, students receive hands-on training with the topics they learned about in class. Interested candidates should send their resume to Okuma Fax: (704) 504-6485 or e-mail careers@okuma.com.

Manufacturing Day: Manufacturing Day is an annual event sponsored by the National Association of Manufacturing and the Manufacturing Institute to educate and inspire the next generation of manufacturers. This event helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies, like Okuma, to open their doors to students, parents, teachers, and community leaders. Okuma has been hosting Manufacturing Day events for many years to showcase the diverse career opportunities available in the manufacturing industry and to connect with America’s future workforce—students. This commitment to mentoring and development is part of Okuma’s belief system, and honoring Manufacturing Day is just one small way we exhibit these beliefs by showcasing latest technologies, operations and professions within the metal cutting discipline.
