Okuma Master Certified Service Technicians

Okuma America strives to maintain the highest standard of service excellence as an OEM in all of our territories and is dedicated to training service technicians to provide world-class service to our customers. This commitment begins with the testing of all distributor service technicians on legacy to current Okuma products and technology to measure our current level of success, continue to upskill technicians, and reward those with a high level of proficiency.

To date, we have certified 163 technicians in our Certified Service Technician program, 12 of whom have achieved the highest certification level of Master Certified Service Technician Part of this is our Certified Technician Program.

To achieve the Master status, technicians participated in a 4-day skills assessment event, where their knowledge in the following areas was tested:

• Electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and service
• Troubleshooting and service on a complex multitasking machine
  
• Recovering ATC/APC after a power failure
  
• Replacement of a spindle, including adjustments and modifications
  
• Deciphering alarm data
  
• Performing hand scraping
  
• And more

To maintain Master Certified Service Technician status, technicians will recertify every 3 years. In addition, they must show evidence of professional growth and development in the following areas:

• Participation in Okuma training activities and events
• Mentorship of apprentices and other service technicians
• Service on the technician testing task team
• Assistance with the ongoing Master Certification assessment process
• Understanding of new Okuma machine models and technologies, as well as industry trends
