Only from Okuma: “Pause” Your CNC Machining Process (Video)!

Mid-Auto Manual is an OSP control function - available only from Okuma - that can be quite useful in a variety of ways. This function allows the operator to “pause” the CNC machining program, move the axes around, check the tool to make sure it’s not chipped or broken, or even check a feature on the part, and then resume the operation at the same point where it left off. This means the operator doesn’t have to stop the program, search for the point where you left off in the program and “re-start” operation. (But the OSP control can still do that if desired).

How to Use This Function

In this demonstration video we show how easy it is to use this function. Simply:

  • Push Feed Hold
  • Hit Auto Manual
  • STAY in either MDI or Auto mode (don’t go into Full Panel mode)
  • Now you can jog around and look at what you wanted to check on
  • Index the turret if you need to
  • When finished, push Sequence Restart
  • Now the machine tool will go back to where it was when you paused it
  • Push Cycle Start and you’re right back to where you were before pausing
