Industrial Internet of Things – Just the Basics (Video)

These days there’s so much talk about the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), or Industry 4.0. Is it all just hype, or is it really as revolutionary as they say?? Ultimately that’s up to you to decide, but for myself personally, I’ve seen so much real potential that I think now is a good time to start taking a look and see where there could be some benefit. To make this a bit easier for everyone, I thought it would be helpful to go over some of the basics of IIoT, in plain, uncomplicated language. So here we’ll kick off a new video series, “Industrial Internet of Things – Just the Basics” with the goal of providing a high level understanding of what’s possible when using IIoT in the machine tool world. Here are the first two videos in the series.

IIoT – Just the Basics Part 1: Introduction

Watch this introductory video to understand:

  • A basic definition of IIoT
  • How and why devices are connected

  • What types of data get shared, and why

  • Real-time operations monitoring
  • Metrology, for quality monitoring
  • CAM and traceability

Be sure to stay tuned for the next video in this series, where I’ll go into more detail on the operations monitoring aspect of the Industrial Internet of Things.
