Sandvik’s Milling Calculator app, now available in the Okuma App Store, provides handy calculations that help users maximize productivity when working with CNC milling tools. This machine tool app makes it easy to perform machining calculations, cost calculations, and even a comparison of two different CNC milling solutions to see the effect of changed cutting parameters (see Figure 1). The calculator includes a material database for calculating Kc values, power, and torque etc. The app calculates estimated cutting data if not all input values are known, and accurate cutting data if all input values are known and entered.
CNC Milling Calculations: Using the App
The Milling Calculator app is divided into three sections (see Figure 1).
- Left Frame: The left frame contains all calculated results. The left/right arrow in this frame can be used to navigate between results.
- Middle Frame: The middle frame contains all the input columns. On each input column there is an Info icon (“i”) that provides a description of the column entries. Navigation between columns can be achieved using a mouse or the Tab key.
- Right Frame: The right frame contains settings and functions of the app. Users can select Compare mode and/or economical Calculations. Users can switch between inch and metric mode in Settings.
