The IMTS Hot Air Balloon recently debuted a new design and color scheme, and is just beginning its 2016 Tour, where it will appear at events and festivals across the country. Many of us will get the chance to see the new balloon (which AMT’s Vice President Peter Eelman calls “Big White”) at IMTS this September.
Another hot air balloon has just completed a more unusual schedule, and Renishaw was a main sponsor. As reported by the Daily Mail, Andrew Holly, a British hot air balloonist, recently finished a record-setting balloon trip across the United States. During a 33-day stint he and his crew launched their balloon from each of the 48 states in the U.S. mainland, shattering the previous world record of 11 states. Holly expects to have the feat officially registered with Guinness World Records when they confirm his GPS records. During the trip Holly also became the second person to take off from Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas (pictured above). You can view additional photos of the scenic balloon trip in the Daily Mail article.
