Okuma's global repair center maximizes uptime for its customers.

Get replacement parts faster and minimize downtime with our service center, featuring a larger space, greater capacity, and enhanced repair and product upgrade services in a dedicated area. It's the ideal solution for both our customers and our team. The Okuma Global Repair Center is scheduled to open in early 2026.

If your shop produces parts worth $8,000 per hour and production runs 24/7 without interruption, one day of spindle downtime represents a loss of $192,000 in revenue. Over two days, that loss increases to $384,000. Damaged hard drives, faulty circuit boards, or other mechanical and electrical components can cause the same problems, jeopardizing important deadlines, customer satisfaction, and profitability when even a single one fails.

The spindle is the heart of every machine tool; the drives and control boards are the brain. Even the highest quality and highest-performing mechanical and electrical components for CNC machine tools eventually fail, especially when used at maximum capacity. However, uncertainty is common in our industry: both regarding the availability of replacement spindles and the delivery date of new drives and control boards once orders have been placed. Both situations put additional and unwelcome pressure on manufacturing operations.

That's why we're reinventing the possibilities for every Okuma customer by expanding our service and repair capabilities at the new Okuma Global Repair Center . We've always provided support for every spindle, insert, and drive manufactured for our machines, offering fast repairs and replacements. Now, we're providing even greater support, completing more jobs in less time to minimize machine downtime and maintain high availability.

These state-of-the-art, specialized facilities expand our spindle repair capabilities, enhance our spare parts offering, broaden our after-sales service, and optimize our ability to refurbish components for all Okuma technologies. In short, we can supply our customers with the boards, drives, and other components they need more quickly, thereby reducing costly downtime.

Okuma's Global Repair Center will open in early 2026 and promises to keep your machines running, protect your productivity, and minimize downtime. All the necessary information is below.

The new space

The Okuma Global Repair Center is the newest addition to Okuma America Corporation's campus in Charlotte, North Carolina. It offers 35,000 square feet of workspace to streamline processes and increase our volume of repaired components; this represents an increase of over 300% compared to our current 8,000 square feet at headquarters.

Capabilities and processes

Centralizing service functions allows us a high degree of control over how we provide our customers with the components they need with minimal downtime, and how we repair spindles, plates, and other components to expand our inventory (we will have thousands in stock). The same applies to the optimizations we are incorporating into the new facilities, such as simulators for training with complex equipment and other technologies that facilitate the flawless and rapid execution of repairs. All of this contributes to the creation of the following capabilities and processes:

  • Same-day or next-day shipping: As soon as you notify us, we'll send you a manufacturer-certified replacement part, often even before we receive your damaged component. It's a true exchange. We don't need to have your spindle or plate in hand to send you the new one(s).
  • Larger inventory: We can now store more cores and boards, the parts needed to repair the drives we receive, and ready-to-use spare parts than ever before. Our extensive vertical storage system, extending from floor to ceiling, increases our agility in providing customers with the right parts.
  • Cleanroom Environment: Our isolated cleanroom helps prevent contaminants (even invisible ones) from damaging spindle bearings, internal components, plates, etc., during reassembly or preparation for shipment. Our controlled inspection and preparation processes ensure successful repairs and reliable replacement parts.

Having all mechanical and electrical repair equipment under one roof makes it easier for our in-house technicians to achieve maximum operational efficiency, respond quickly to customer requests, and adjust workflows to adapt to the constant and dynamic flow of components.

To request a replacement part, please contact your local distributor , who will confirm the part number in our system and help you submit the request.

The domino effect of installation options

The migration and expansion of our mechanical exchange and motherboard repair operations creates a similar opportunity for another service group in Okuma. Our options installation team is expanding into a larger space at headquarters, resulting in increased capacity, faster turnaround times, and greater agility for custom-order machines.

This group will add four bays and increase its capacity to install applications on 15 additional machines each month. Customer machine tools will be able to arrive at the facility sooner and be ready to operate, eliminating the need for add-ons and the resulting downtime. It's like buying a pickup truck and having the dealer install a lift kit before you even take it home.

The growing team

Our in-house technical team currently has 28 people and continues to grow. As our new facility expands, so does the team needed to complete jobs as quickly as possible. We will be adding 10 to 15 mechanical exchange experts, more electronic repair experts, materials management staff to process end-to-end inventory, and forecasting analysts to our existing team. This growth will not only create approximately 35 new permanent jobs in the Charlotte area, but it also reaffirms our commitment to increasing the capacity and speed of our operations.

We are actively seeking qualified candidates. To view available opportunities, click here .
