Standing Strong and Ready

Jim King

Today we celebrate the new beginning that is the New Year. While we may be relaxing today (or should be!), we’re also recharging, eager to take on the challenges and opportunities ahead of us. Economic forecasts are popular this time of year, and many are predicting that the “Manufacturing Renaissance” will continue and indeed strengthen in 2014. Now is the time to launch ambitious plans that make the most of these opportunities.

Strength is a Strength of Ours

At Okuma we’re continually innovating and investing to make sure our company is in the strongest position to support you and your growth. One example is our new DS1 manufacturing plant in Oguchi, Japan, which is already achieving productiondramatic cost efficiencies and much faster lead times on machine orders. We’ll all benefit from that. Our high-tech products are quickly evolving to give you significant productivity gains, such as those now possible with our THINC®-OSP-P300 control. And, as of today, we offer more than 70 products and nearly 300 product configurations. From this broad portfolio we can provide a best-fit CNC machine tool solution that will spur your profitability and enable competitive advantage.

Add to That…Strength in Our People

If you’ve ever worked closely with our people, you already know this a long-standing Okuma strength too. Yes, it’s their experience and skills, to be sure. But also it’s a matter of heart, commitment and going above-and-beyond to get the job done. And a great many of them tend to stick around, we’re happy to say. (It really is a culture of family around here.) As we do every year, recently we honored our 20-year Okuma veterans, and this year we have four recipients. Please join me in congratulating:

  • Joe Alhafi, Principal Engineer
  • Rich Hagens, Senior Electrical Engineer
  • Dennis Nichols, Senior Applications Engineer
  • Joe Sides, Procurement Specialist

Between just these four individuals we have 80 years of knowledge, experience and “just about seen it all.” What’s that worth to you? Well it might be worth a phone call, an email or just reaching out to see how they or anyone else here can help you emerge victorious in 2014. We’re standing strong and ready.

Jim King is President & COO, Okuma America Corporation.
