Vertical Machining Center Demo: “Angry Monkey”

When considering vertical machining centers, users often think, “yeah, but can I cut a monkey part with this machine tool?” OK, maybe that question hasn’t actually popped into your mind. Morris Company thought the “Angry Monkey” program shown in this video would be a great way to show off the capabilities of Okuma’s GENOS M560-V vertical machining center. Indeed it appears to be popular, with hundreds of views in just a few weeks.

Heavy Cuts, Smooth Finish

The GENOS M-560-V vertical machining center can perform heavy cuts on a variety of materials, from aluminum to steel to titanium. This demonstration uses Hi-Cut Pro (a standard feature on this machine) to achieve smooth finishes, shows three tooling changes, and portrays roughing to finishing at speeds up to 12,000 rpm.
