When considering vertical machining centers, users often think, “yeah, but can I cut a monkey part with this machine tool?” OK, maybe that question hasn’t actually popped into your mind. But the folks at the The Robert E. Morris Company thought the “Angry Monkey” program shown in this video would be a great way to show off the capabilities of Okuma’s GENOS M560-V vertical machining center. Indeed it appears to be popular, with hundreds of views in just a few weeks.
Heavy Cuts, Smooth Finish
The GENOS M-560-V vertical machining center can perform heavy cuts on a variety of materials, from aluminum to steel to titanium. This demonstration uses Hi-Cut Pro (a standard feature on this machine) to achieve smooth finishes, shows three tooling changes, and portrays roughing to finishing at speeds up to 12,000 rpm. The GENOS M560-V is versatile, compact and powerful. This vertical machining center can be used to cut parts for a variety of industries including aerospace, automotive, die/mold and medical. It is also included in Okuma’s Affordable Excellence product lineup.
