A few days ago we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the launch of the Okuma App Store, and in some ways it feels like time has flown. But mostly it seems like at least ten years ago, judging by all the activity. Since then we’ve more than doubled the number of machine tool apps available for download, and every day we hear of more shops taking advantage of these productivity-enhancers. In case you’re wondering how you can get started in your shop, this video provides some tips for downloading apps.

We recommend SCOUT – the System Compatibility Output Utility – as the first app you download, because it’s designed to quickly identify if your Okuma machine tool is compatible with App Store apps. All applications have certain system requirements, and SCOUT takes the burden off the user to determine which apps are compatible. It provides a list of all available apps and their current compatibility status for that machine.
